Located in one of the nation’s most expensive retail centers, the historic Highland Park Village in Dallas, Texas, this is Royal Blue Grocery’s first franchised location and represents the early steps of growth from a local shop to a national chain.

The fashionable location meant a jump in scale and finish for this boutique grocer. The design blends two parts, a coffee shop / deli and the grocery sales floor to make a relaxed customer environment. Custom designed furnishes and finishes like marble countertops and steel edging add to the sleek yet refined palate.

The project is set into a 70 year-old building which has seen many reuses. Materials and finishes were chosen to minimize the need for sealants. The low touch palate included techniques such as regrinding the existing slab rather than a new finish material. Where possible repurposed materials were specified.
